Pawmigo also counts visits itself, to see which pages are used and how visitors reach the store. For each visit it records the pages viewed, whether something was added to the cart, the website or campaign that referred the visit, and whether the device is a phone, tablet or computer. It uses a random number held in your browser for that visit only and a note that the browser has visited before. No cookies are set for this, no IP address is stored, and nothing recorded identifies you. These records are kept for 13 months and are not shared with anyone.
Pawmigo uses the Meta Pixel, a tool from Meta Platforms (Facebook and Instagram), to measure and improve its adverts. When you visit the store, the Pixel tells Meta which pages you view, what you add to the cart, when you start checkout and when you complete an order, with the products and order value. Meta may link this to your Facebook or Instagram account using cookies and your device information, and processes it outside South Africa under its own privacy policy. Pawmigo does not send Meta your name, email, phone number or address. You can control ad personalisation in your Facebook or Instagram ad settings, or block cookies in your browser.
9. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information against:

- misuse;
- unauthorised access;
- unauthorised disclosure;
- alteration; and
- destruction.
No internet transmission or electronic storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure. However, we take reasonable steps appropriate to the information we process and the services we operate.
